Demon Child Born of Salem Witch

By Richard Wood

On January 8, 1693, Widow Elizabeth Proctor gave birth to a cacodemon; a true son of the Devil.  The child, born from the accused witch Mrs. Proctor, had long, gruesome claws, same as those of a cougar, and sharp, protruding fangs.  At birth, as one witness told the Bostonian Enquirer, the demon leapt from its mother’s womb and maimed the nurse assisting the birth.  The nurse, later identified to be a Ms. Mary Warren, the servant of the Proctor household, died two days after the incident from blood loss and poisoning, from contact with the demon child.  No decision has been made as to what will become of this demon child, but for the time being, the town of Salem has announced that Elizabeth Proctor will remain in contempt with her child of the Devil.
